Carrboro Atrisan Market

I've got a few shows under my belt by now but I'll tell ya the town of Carrboro,NC has blown me away and captured my heart. It is the best of both worlds of city living and small town living. Everyone is so friendly!!!!! One very classy artsy older woman told me they call it "The Paris of NC." I might add she had the most beautiful wire crochet necklace I've ever seen that she made. People walk everywhere and I've never seen so my bicycles. Now I know why my wonderful friend Jody makes bicycle silk screen T shirts ( flytrapstudios.etsy.com). Usually when there is a 90% chance of rain you think "well this will be a wash out and a waste of time and hard work." Not in this town! Everyone had on rain boots , coats and umbrellas. They walked their dogs and rode their bikes smiling the whole time. No one ever ran to get out of the rain. They strolled as if it were a beautiful sunny day. My sales were great and every one asked a ton of questions ( I like to talk) My head was so swollen by the time I left I felt like the jewelry rock star of the town. After we packed up we walked in the rain to the bar in what I'm guessing was the old train station. The show was in their parking lot. All the doors were wide open so we could hear the band playing during the show. We sat and relaxed and had a beer. The band had just finished but one of the guys , Mark, sat down with us and asked about how we did, talked about the town like he was our long lost friend. He told us the people there are so kind and friendly that the town was thinking of letting people walk around on the streets with their drinks while at their favorite watering hole. Several people walked in and recognized us and chatted it up. We then went over to the restaurant which was in an old train car and had great sandwiches with fresh locally grown produce. Next door is a small neighborhood Whole Foods type grocery store , Weaver Street market. I'm in love with this town!!!! I can't wait to go back. I must mention my lovely neighbor and her wonderful family. Emily-Claire Stevens was the jewelry artist beside me. Her parents were there to help and support her as well as her adorable finance' . She makes Asian inspired jewelry with the most beautiful colors. Her website is www.eclaireart.weebly.com. Thank you so much Jody for telling me about this show!
